First stop - Farmers Market in Creswick.
Artisan Breads
Buying Jam
Check out this huge lovely dog!
Random shot with a vintage car
Our main attraction for the day was Sovereign Hill. Website description :
Sovereign Hill is where Australia’s history comes to life! It’s just like stepping back in time - from the hustle and bustle of Main Street where costumed ladies and gents parade their new-found wealth, to the excitement of the Red Hill Gully Diggings where you can pan for real gold and it’s yours to keep!
Family ticket for us was AUD 144.
My parents opted not to go as they were not so keen a gold town plus they wanted to rest.
Amazing level of detail
Candleshop and even an Undertaker Shop
Huge tower
Giant boiler room to fire up the machinery
Marching Soldiers
Ladies in Period costumes
I wanted a photo too. Found another gentleman
Family photo
Had our little tea break of coffee and donuts
Took this photo at one of the houses - 3 old ladies by the fireplace!
Played old style bowling at this wooden bowling alley
We attended a school session too
Almost 45 minutes. I was surprised Erin bravely put up her hand and answered 4 questions.
Class in progress.
Erin got an A for her writing :-)
Candle making demonstration
Can take photos in period costumes too
We didn't opt for this. Somehow Asian faces and European style period costumes don't go, I think. hehe. (plus it was expensive! )
Horse Ride
Erin was keen but we said no as it was AUD 17 per person. RM 200 for 4 of us for a 10 minute ride?NOPE!
Panning for Gold
Took a photo of these 2 ladies
A horse carriage passed by when we were posing. The old lady pointed and said "ah, my grandaughter is on the carriage". Hehe...they really play their character!
Working an old-style water pump
Elyssa in an old style bonnet :-)
We left the place around closing time at 5pm. There was really a LOT to really explore in the little town. We probably covered about half only.
Our take on it? The girls didn't really appreciate the "old stuff details" that much. Hubs and I were fascinated with the re-creation. Actually,we were pretty blown away. But I wasn't so pleased that many of the mini attractions were chargeable, after us paying about RM 450!
After Sovereign Hill, we did another round of grocery shopping at Coles.
Dinner on Day 2
Pan-fried fish fillets, Oven baked pork ribs, Salad and Soup.
At the dinner table
Took a night walk around the resort after dinner. Love our nightly super cold but absolutely refreshing walks.
--- End of Day 2 ---
