Rainbow Loom

We finally tried Rainbow Loom recently. Pretty fun actually.  Thumbs up to the Malaysian born designer!

Elyssa received a set for her 6th birthday but for some strange, strange reason we just couldn't find it despite searching through the entire house. Waited for a few months hoping it'll re-surface but it never did.  Bummer.

So I bought a new set from the newly opened Spotlight store at Ampang Point. (side track a bit - I super LOVE that store.  I went gaga during their opening sale!)

Elyssa was so excited when I got the loom home-

Concentrating hard

Looping the bracelet
She can now make the simpler designs on her own
(but I help out at the beginning and the last bit of attaching the c-clip)

Tada.... started off with the "Single Loop" bracelet

Then proceeded to the "Fish Tail" bracelet

"Star Burst" bracelet
This one I did on my own. Took me 3 attempts before I got it right! So there I was sitting on my bed struggling with the loom, when I tot - eh, is this loom for Elyssa or for me??  hehe.

Both girls love wearing their bracelets, sometimes a few on one hand. Erin likes to wear it as an anklet too. Wonder how long this craze will last!

haha I think it'll last for a long time. So many more things to make other than the bracelets, and lotsa pretty band colours too. Did you see the next pastels mix pack? So pretty!

I have also been wondering when this Rainbow Loom bubble will burst. All the kids whom I know of and dont know (whom we saw on the street and at the malls) have a loom bracelet on their hands. My girls are still very much hooked on it. Remember the Friendship Band? I was hooked on making them when I was a teenager and then the bubble burst. Lately, it's starting to make a come back, after more than 20 years! I saw the Friendship Band kit for sale at the Popular book fest yesterday! :)

My kids are also into looming!

This rainbow loom can teach children to work patiently and see their beautiful end product - the bracelet so it is a useful thing.

This thing is addictive! At one point, Chloe and I were constantly fighting over the loom until she received another set (a gift from a friend who didn't know that we already into it) haha...

Ai - i wanna learn how to make charms soon. but haven't gotten round to doing it yet. Oops. Haven't seen pastels tho.

Shireen - when i saw your comment, I was like Aa!!!! Cos the loom bands reminded me of something but I just couldn't think what. Friendship band was exactly it!! I remembered the craze last time in school.

Chi2 - hard to remember like that la. I actually have my ipad next to me, play and pause utube as I go along.
